Liebherr Offshore Cranes

The offshore crane range includes advanced wire-luffing and ram-luffing cranes. The cranes are available in various sizes and can be modified for specific customer requirements.
Liebherr is registered in the following Supplier Data Base:

  • First Point Assessment Limited (FPAL) Registration No. 10040223
  • Achilles Joint Qualification System Registration No. 13289

Board Offshore Cranes
The BOS crane is a conventional slew bearing type rope luffing crane. This type of crane is available in different sizes and lifting capacities of up to 1200 metric tonnes. The maximum boom length for this crane is 102 metres which is especially required for offshore wind park installation.
The crane prime mover is either electric-hydraulic or diesel-hydraulic. EX proof systems are available. The hydraulic system is of a closed type technology with individual circuits for each crane function.
Rope luffing cranes are available with metallic or non-metallic slew bearings.
The Litronic Crane Management System is in charge of the crane movement and data recording.
Ram Luffing Cranes
The RL offshore crane is a compact solution for manned and unmanned installations, FPSO, FSU, Jack Up, Pipe layer, Buoy handler and multipurpose applications. The luffing system is operated by two hydraulic cylinders.
The crane prime mover is either electric-hydraulic or diesel-hydraulic. EX proof systems are available.
Mast Type Cranes
The mast type crane is based on the kingpost principle and has a non-metallic slew bearing.
The crane prime mover is either electric-hydraulic or diesel-hydraulic. EX proof systems are available. The hydraulic system is of a closed type technology with individual circuits for each crane function.
The Litronic Crane Management System is in charge of the crane movement and data recording.
Heavy Lift Offshore Cranes
Because of the increasing importance of heavy lift offshore cranes Liebherr developed an extensive range of offshore heavy lift cranes featuring maximum lifting capacities of up to 2000 t.
Apart from the installation of offshore wind power stations the crane is also suitable for the oil and gas market, e.g. for assembly and disassembly of platforms or pipe laying.
The offshore heavy lift cranes are mounted on crane ships or jack-up platforms specially designed for these jobs.
Ram Luffing Knuckle Boom
The ram luffing knuckle boom crane series (RL-K) from Liebherr was developed especially for the oil and gas industry. The unique design of the knuckle boom reduces the working radius and increases the flexibility of the crane. With the addition of a deep-sea winch and the active swell compensation system (Heavetronic), the RL-K can be used as a deep sea crane. Both are developments from Liebherr and fully integrated in the Litronic control system.
