Safeguarding important operations at the FTA Transport Manager Conference

With an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) set to be introduced in London within six months, it’s crucial that businesses operating commercial vehicles around the capital understand the new rules by attending the FTA Transport Manager event.
Hosted at The Oval, London on 21 November 2018 and sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres, the one-day event is open to representatives of any organisation operating commercial vehicles, allowing businesses to learn more about the impending new rules.
Within 18 months, the ULEZ is set to expand for trucks and busses, while the Transport for London will introduce a new Direct Vision Standard for all trucks in Greater London, so affected businesses are urged to start preparing sooner rather than later.
Featuring expert advice and guidance from leading industry speakers, the conference will help anyone running a truck or van fleet stay up to date on the latest developments, regardless of their business size.
Christopher Snelling, Head of UK Policy at FTA, commented: “The arrival of the ULEZ in six months leaves little time for operators to achieve compliance. The Greater London requirement in 2020, and especially the Direct Vision Standard coming in at the same time, will massively impact many operators. To assist operators as best we can, FTA will be holding a session at its Transport Manager conference to offer advice on how to prepare for and cope with the effects of the schemes.
“Representing over 17,000 businesses in the logistics sector, FTA speaks on behalf of the industry and has voiced its concern that the new scheme will unfairly penalise small businesses, many of whom do not have the resources available to quickly upgrade their fleets.”
Held at ten venues across the country, the session, which is part of the FTA’s Transport Manager one-day conferences, will also cover Clean Air Zones, offering a unique insight into the issues relevant to those using vehicles as part of their daily work.
