Unsworth celebrates Golden Jubilee with renewed commitment to innovation

Cloud-based technology that contains all the information, communication and documentation associated with each shipment is key to the future success of UK-based independent freight forwarder, Unsworth Group.

The company’s CEO, Richard Hogg, who reaffirmed Unsworth’s commitment to innovation and setting new industry standards as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The freight and logistics world of today is completely different to the one in which Unsworth in the UK was established in 1974, he says. “However, ultimately, it is still all about adding value for our clients, anticipating and adapting to industry changes, as well as leading from the front with innovative solutions.

“Since our incorporation in 1974, Unsworth UK has navigated the complexities of the freight forwarding industry, by trying to continually set benchmarks against which others measure themselves. This has underpinned our growth by allowing us to become a trusted partner for businesses around the world.”

Over the past five decades, Unsworth has transformed from a small freight forwarding operation into a well established global logistics provider, expanding its multimodal freight management services to include a robust Customs solutions team.

“Our journey from a modest startup to an multi award-winning global leader in freight forwarding and logistics has been enabled by our commitment to innovation and delivering exceptional service.”

Proactive responses to major global challenges sums up the company’s ethos, says Hogg.

“When the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains worldwide, Unsworth swiftly adapted its operations, implementing advanced digital solutions and ensuring uninterrupted service to clients.

“The unprecedented challenges to the logistics industry caused by Brexit saw Unsworth rise to the occasion by expanding its services to include a comprehensive Customs brokerage operation.”
Designed to help businesses navigate the post-Brexit landscape with confidence, Unsworth’s Customs Solutions team is now an established leader in the field, offering expert guidance and support to businesses across Europe.

Hogg adds: “My vision for the company’s development as we enter our 51st year is to continue with the significant investment in technological innovation and business processes, proven commitment to client satisfaction and the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement, that has characterised our last half century.

“Technology has been an huge enabler of the company’s growth, and will continue to be so. We see a tremendous opportunity to further leverage data and technological solutions to develop a more transparent and streamlined operating model.

“Cloud-based technology that contains all the information, communication and documentation associated with each shipment will enable us to better serve our customers; and differentiate us from our competition.”
