Chris Packwood appointed BIFA member engagement advisor

The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has named Chris Packwood as member engagement advisor with a remit focused on supporting issues raised by individual corporate members.

Chris brings to the role more than three decades of experience in the freight forwarding and logistics industry.

As the former managing director of Geodis UK, he is widely respected for his strategic insight, deep industry knowledge, and long-standing commitment to improving standards across the freight and logistics sector.

In this newly created advisory capacity, Chris will work closely with BIFA’s executive team, network of regional representatives, and board of directors, providing expert guidance and dedicated support on matters raised by corporate members.

His role is designed to strengthen BIFA’s ability to respond to member concerns with tailored, practical solutions, while also enhancing the Association’s engagement with industry stakeholders.

Steve Parker, director general of BIFA, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Chris in this vital role. His vast industry experience and reputation for integrity and innovation make him ideally suited to help us deepen our support for individual corporate members.

“As the freight forwarding landscape evolves, BIFA is committed to ensuring our members’ voices are heard and their challenges addressed with expert, individual attention.”

Chris Packwood added: “I’ve worked closely with BIFA for many years and have been a member of its board since June 2024. I have always admired the Association’s dedication to its members. I’m looking forward to contributing in a hands-on way to help individual businesses navigate the regulatory, operational, and commercial challenges they face, and deepen their engagement with the trade association.”

Chris’s appointment reflects BIFA’s strategic emphasis on advocacy, expertise, and service excellence for its corporate membership as the UK freight industry continues to adapt to global and regional pressures.

Much of BIFA’s engagement with members is undertaken by a network of regional representatives and consultants who support and engage with BIFA members across the UK and are the trade associations ‘eyes and ears’ at a local level in each of its regions.

Chris will work with that team to help further raise BIFA’s profile with its members as well as enhance engagement with them.
