BPL Global boosts Singapore team with hire from Standard Chartered

Leading credit and political risk insurance (CPRI) broker BPL Global has hired Cindy Gunawan as part of its ongoing expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
Gunawan was previously a senior associate at Standard Chartered, specialising in trade finance distribution. She joins BPL Global as a broker, reporting to Peter Gilbert, Chief Executive of the company’s Singapore subsidiary. Gilbert comments: “We are delighted to announce Cindy’s appointment as we continue to develop the CPRI market in Asia. In Singapore, we have already this year witnessed increased demand for insurance from clients engaged in international trade, investment and lending – and are scaling up to cope with this.”
This hire comes on the heels of an impressive year of expansion for BPL Global, which has increased its workforce by more than 10% in the past 12 months, taking the total to over 80 members of staff. The hires have ranged from senior appointments – including James Reynolds and Jonny Carruthers, both Assistant Directors at the London headquarters – to trainee brokers and IT/business analysts in London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, BPL Global’s partner broker in the US, EIA Global, also recently announced that John Lavelle has joined as Senior Managing Director for Trade Credit, Structured Trade and Political Risk Insurance.
