DP World donates £26,000 to local charities

DP World London Gateway and Southampton have donated over £26,000 to six local charities in Essex and Hampshire respectively. The donations were made following the annual ‘Great Place to Work’ survey, which saw DP World contribute to a specified charity after each completed employee response.
Little Haven’s Hospice in Essex and Mountbatten Hampshire received the largest donation requests of £7,425 and £5,950, followed by Solent Mind and South East and Central Essex (SECE) Mind who received a combined share of £7,275. Long-time DP World charitable partners, FareShare and Thurrock Foodbank, who distribute thousands of meals to those in need annually, each received £5,575.
Charmain Browning, DP World People Director – South UK, said: “We are proud to share that, following the Great Place to Work survey, we will be donating over £26,000 to support a selection of incredible local charities. Thanks to staff completing the survey, the donations will make a meaningful impact on the communities we serve whilst reinforcing our commitment to creating an exceptional workplace.”
Rossella Inguscio, Senior Corporate Fundraiser at Little Haven’s Hospice, said: “We have now finished our Christmas campaign and set the ambitious goal of raising £223,727 to fund 31 days of care throughout December. This ensures we can say ‘Yes!’ to everyone who needs us, every single day. DP World’s donation arrived at such a critical time and we are extremely grateful for their support.”
Caitlyn Sherry, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Mountbatten Hampshire, said: “This year, hospices like ours are facing a funding crisis. Mountbatten’s Southampton-based hospice and 24/7 community services reach over 1,600 people across Hampshire daily—whether in their homes or through our inpatient unit.
While we receive a third of our funding from the NHS, this amount has not increased with inflation, and our costs are rising. This makes community funding and donations more critical than ever. This donation by DP World could fund a nurse for twenty one 12-hour night shifts, which is incredibly important for the patients and families who are in need of this. Thank you!”
The announcement follows two separate charitable donations from DP World Southampton employees, including £5,000 to the Southampton Toy Appeal, helping to provide Christmas presents to around 300 children and families across the region and £2,000 to the Sunday Lunch Project, which supports local communities by offering a free hot meal, pudding and hot drink every Sunday in Woolston and St Deny’s.
