First female Tornado pilot to address FLTA Safety Conference

Jo Salter, the RAF’s first-ever female fast-jet pilot, will inspire and motivate delegates at the FLTA’s National Fork Truck Safety Conference on June 29.
Elite fighter pilot Jo Salter, who flew Tornados over Iraq as part of the famous ‘Dambuster’ 617 Squadron, knows a thing or two about leadership, personal development, meeting challenges and succeeding in the face of adversity. When flying a twin-jet engine Tornado combat aircraft over Iraq in 1996 she was one of just five female fighter pilots in the world… and, if that wasn’t enough, she was simultaneously studying for an MBA.
Achievement is a way of life for Jo. A management consultant, she delivers leadership masterclasses, lectures at the Open University Business School, gives life-changing motivational speeches, has written two books and, at weekends, teaches new Air Training Corps cadets. Who better to speak on the Conference theme: Leadership & Ownership?
Described as “one of the 50 most inspiring women in the world” by Harpers & Queen magazine, her address at the forthcoming Fork Lift Truck Association’s National Safety Conference on June 29 is anticipated to be one of the most enlightening, entertaining and energising in recent years.
Now firmly established as the most authoritative event of its kind in the materials handling calendar, the award-winning conference, welcomes hundreds of managers from companies of all sizes and from all sectors. Its greatest success lies in its focus on peer-to-peer presentations: Real life case studies and practical safety tips, advice and guidance delivered by people who have made measurable improvements to safety on their sites.
The FLTA’s National Fork Lift Safety Conference will take place on June 29 at The Heart of England Conference and Events Centre, located between Birmingham and Coventry.
