Investment in Customer Portal – Europa Air & Sea

With technology’s impact on the logistics sector continuing a pace, Europa Air & Sea is dramatically improving its customers’ visibility and control of their consignments with the launch of a new inhouse IT platform LeoWeb.

In the latest investment by Europa Worldwide Group, the Air & Sea Division is being boosted by the roll-out of LeoWeb – part of the operator’s £10m in-house Leonardo programme used across the business. Maximising latest technology is one of the key drivers at the heart Europa Worldwide Group powering its continued success.

The name of the system Leonardo was inspired by the famous quote from Da Vinci himself, who said, ‘simplicity is the ultimate sophistication’. Leonardo has given Europa control over its systems, improving responsiveness, efficiency, productivity and scalability.

LeoWeb is now being offered to all air and sea freight customers. It utilises the latest functionality to reduce admin time and increase visibility of consignments, the online portal includes real-time tracking data, order management, as well as online quote request features and a document archive.

Over the past decade Europa has invested significantly in technology with a growing team of in-house developers focused on creating bespoke assets to support customers. It has been reported that digital technologies have been fast tracked by three to four years in logistics. Technology across the supply chain has gained importance as a result of both the Covid pandemic as well as Brexit.  This has resulted in a shift towards greater digital transformation, but it has been front and centre at Europa since Andrew Baxter acquired the firm in 2013. As a result of its ongoing investment into its IT team and the use of advanced technology, Europa has improved efficiencies and accuracy across its expanding operation.

Europa’s growing in-house team now has over 90 dedicated expert developers focused on developing and implementing latest technologies across the business.

The first phase of Leonardo was LeoRoad which was launched in 2016 focusing on road freight operations and continuous software developments continue to drive improvements in operations, processes and communications.

Angus Hind, Director for Europa Air & Sea comments: “We’re delighted to be enhancing our service to customers by utilising the latest technology and the expertise of our in-house team to provide a system that is simple and efficient.

“Leonardo is at the heart of technological advances at Europa, we’re continually improving our systems enabling us to be faster, more efficient and making sure our infrastructure is customer centric.”

Europa Worldwide Group is an ambitious independent logistics operator with three divisions, Europa Road, Europa Air & Sea, and Europa Warehouse, and has been featured in The Sunday Times Top Track 250 for three years.

Europa has invested £5 million in its innovative product, Europa Flow, providing a frictionless flow of goods between the EU and the UK post Brexit. The group employs over 1,300 people with 19 sales offices in the UK, and the Republic of Ireland, plus European teams in Belgium and the Netherlands and internationally in Hong Kong, China and the UAE. The global operator recently reported a record turnover of £316m for the last 12 months, as of August 2022, and remains on track with its ambitious investment programme.
