Following a successful audit process, leading shipping container sales, hire and conversion specialist S Jones Containers has successfully achieved two further ISO accreditations – ISO 14001 covering environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety.

Strengthening environmental, health and safety standards across the business

To achieve ISO 14001: Environmental Management System, the audit reviewed S Jones Containers’ commitment to reducing its environmental impact as an ongoing and proactive process with a particular focus on reducing waste and energy conservation. As well as replacing its Container Lift truck with a biodiesel version, triple glazing the windows at its head office and re-cladding the workshop, the team is also working towards installing solar panels on the roof. Achieving this ISO accreditation demonstrates S Jones Containers’ dedication to building a sustainable future for the business.

The team has also successfully completed the audit for ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. This standard provides a framework to manage risks and improve occupational health and safety performance and shows a commitment to worker health, safety and wellbeing. As part of this process S Jones Containers is currently installing new software designed to manage the planning, scheduling, checking and recording of servicing, calibrating, monitoring and training. The company has also introduced scheduled daily briefings and fortnightly Toolbox Talks to make sure employees are fully aware of movements on site and to ensure they’re fully up-to-date with all training.

Andrew Jones, Managing Director at S Jones Containers commented: “These internationally-recognised ISO accreditations give our customers, suppliers and colleagues peace of mind and also cement our reputation as a trusted global solutions provider. While they are not mandatory for the majority of projects we work on currently, we wanted to future-proof our position to allow us to continue to undertake complex projects for global leaders in the aviation, automotive and engineering fields.

“We already hold ISO 9001: Quality Management System, which guides our processes to ensure we deliver consistently high quality products. Having these additional ISOs in place will open new doors for us and we see it as an important step as part of our strategic growth plan across all divisions, from container hire and sales to conversions and modular solutions. It marks the start of an exciting new chapter for us here at S Jones Containers.”

S Jones Containers is also fully registered to the JOSCAR supplier accreditation register, an online platform used in the UK aerospace, defense, and security industries to streamline supplier pre-qualification and compliance. And as an accredited Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) supplier too, S Jones Containers can demonstrate it has the correct assurance in place to mitigate risk, comply with legal requirements, adhere to safety protocols and deliver quality assurance. The company has also recently become a member of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) as well as the Modular and Portable Building Association (MPBA).
