Torque uses Hollybush as a community partner COMMUNITY PARTNER

Leading end-to-end international logistics service provider Torque, has chosen Hollybush, The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) as one of its annual community partners for 2016-17.
Torque has pledged to donate at least £5000 to the charity which will be used for a Roundhouse project at their Kirkstall site. The Roundhouse will provide a meeting place for TCV Hollybush volunteers, a venue for training courses, a base for group using the grounds for pre-school environmental education. It will also be available for community groups e.g. a dementia café, local companies for one off meetings or local people wanting a unique venue for a special party.
Hollybush in Kirkstall, Leeds is a well-known environmental volunteering centre that has been running for over 30 years. Their volunteers help to manage threatened green spaces across Leeds and beyond.
Many people find working in green places beneficial to their emotional, physical and social well-being. Hollybush works with around 500 people each year to help them look after their own green places and take responsibility for their own environment.
Torque selects two charities each year, from a list of organisations nominated by its employees across all sites, and makes a financial donation to them both with a commitment to fundraise for a 12 month period.
Employees across its seven warehouses have now started fundraising and will continue their efforts until April 2017. Alongside this, employees will be able to help the organisation further with organised volunteering days.
John Preston, Operations Manager, Hollybush: “The fantastic donation from Torque takes the fundraising for the Roundhouse past the two thirds mark. We can forge ahead to find the last £17k and look forward to moving in before Christmas”.
Stewart Firth, Director, Torque, said his company was delighted to support this unique organisation which does such valuable work for the environment and local community.
He said: “We are pleased to show our support for such an established organisation and get involved with their forthcoming projects and seeing the Roundhouse up and running in 2016”.
The introduction of Hollybush to Torque was arranged by Rachel Reeves, Labour MP for Leeds West.
Rachel Reeves MP said, “Hollybush does outstanding work in the local community, I am really pleased that Torque have chosen to support them for the next 12 months. The Roundhouse Project at Hollybush will be a great asset to the organisation and community, I will look forward to seeing it when complete”.
