At Multimodal 2026, the NX Group (Nippon Express Group) highlighted its expanding UK and Ireland network, growing sector capabilities and integrated multimodal solutions designed to help customers build more resilient supply chains. The Group’s prominent presence at the event underscored its commitment to diversifying its service offerings while solidifying its position as a trusted global logistics partner. NX Group’s UK and Ireland network now spans 12 locations and more than 270 specialists, with recent acquisitions strengthening its road freight, customs, lifestyle logistics and specialist delivery capabilities.

Steve Williams, Managing Director of NX UK & Ireland, stated, “After 45 years of deep engagement in the UK and Ireland, we are transforming our business. While we remain immensely proud of our heritage and hold firm to our position as the number one logistics provider to and from Japan, we are building on that strong Japan-related heritage to serve a broader range of customers, trade lanes and industries. Through strategic integrations and a commitment to innovation, we are diversifying our reach into the Americas, India, and broader Asian markets, offering comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for a wider range of industries.”

The NX Group is actively enhancing its network and service portfolio to help customers respond to global supply chain disruption, freight rate volatility and changing trade routes. Its multimodal approach combines air, ocean, road, rail and short-sea solutions, enabling customers to diversify risk and identify alternative routes where needed.

The Group’s growth and reliability are supported by tangible initiatives showcased at the event.

Expanded network and capabilities

The ongoing integration of recent strategic acquisitions, including cargo-partner and NX Lifestyle Logistics UK, is significantly strengthening the Group’s European road freight and customs capabilities, while expanding specialised white-glove delivery and installation services for high-value furniture and lifestyle products.

Technological advancement

The Group is advancing its digital infrastructure by rolling out the industry-leading CargoWise platform to enhance end-to-end visibility and operational productivity, while exploring practical applications of AI, reporting tools and warehouse automation, with human oversight remaining central at this early stage.

Commitment to sustainability

The NX Group has received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and is targeting a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions, by 2030 from a 2020 baseline. In the UK, the Group is actively pursuing green logistics initiatives, including EV truck trials for local delivery in West London, towards a goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
