Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced two changes to improve the structure of its regional headquarters. Both come into effect as of 1 April 2027.
ONE will establish a new Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters (RHQ) in Singapore, consolidating its East Asia and South Asia RHQ functions, which are currently based in Hong Kong and Singapore respectively. The Asia Pacific RHQ will oversee ONE’s business across 15 markets. Louis Tang will assume the role of Region Head, Asia Pacific.
Separately, ONE will centralize the management of its East, West and South Africa markets in the Dubai RHQ. The London RHQ will continue to manage Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa markets.
Faster regional decision making
The changes will bring the RHQs closer to the markets, enable faster decision making and create new opportunities for the business. Service offerings, customer contracts and day-to-day operations continue as they are today. Customers can expect improved service levels after the transition. Local teams in all markets concerned will remain customers’ point of contact for relationships and operations.
“Asia Pacific and Africa are important growth regions for ONE,” said Till Ole Barrelet, Chief Executive Officer. “Our regional headquarters sit closest to our customers and our markets. These changes will enable us to make faster decisions and accelerate growth. They will also support further investments in both regions. Our commitment to every market we serve, and to the colleagues in them, remains unchanged.”
“Our teams in East and South Asia have built strong businesses and deep customer relationships,” said Mr. Louis Tang, Region Head, Asia Pacific. “A single regional headquarters structure gives us a comprehensive view of Asia Pacific. It allows us to respond more quickly when conditions change. Customers moving cargo between East and South Asia will be served by one team. Beyond bringing together the talent and experience of two RHQs, we are taking the opportunity to enhance how we are structured. This mean we can serve customers even better across a fast-growing region.”
Supporting the ONE 2030 strategy
Both changes support the Company’s ONE 2030 strategy and its ambition to build one of the world’s leading container shipping companies through sustainable growth. They will implement the changes in phases. In the initial phase, current teams will continue in their existing roles under the new structures. Further alignment of functions and responsibilities to follow as each transition progresses.
