Record-breaking Multimodal 2025 Awards honour logistics leaders

Multimodal 2025 has kicked off with a triumphant celebration of logistics excellence, as Cameron Bowie of Hapag-Lloyd claimed the prestigious Personality of the Year title at The NEC on 17th June 2025. The annual awards ceremony drew a record number of industry professionals for an evening that recognised outstanding achievement across every sector of the UK’s logistics landscape.

This year’s ceremony marked a significant milestone, with 15 awards presented to companies and individuals who have driven innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence throughout the year.

Industry Leadership Recognised

Cameron Bowie, who received the evening’s top honour, has had a distinguished 34-year career in shipping. Born and educated in Scotland, he joined his current employer in Asia in 1991, working across China, Vietnam, Thailand and Taiwan before moving to the US and then returning to the UK in 2000. He has served as Managing Director of Hapag-Lloyd UK and Ireland from 2000-2019 and again from 2022 to present, while being a staunch advocate and supporter of Multimodal throughout his career.

Reflecting on the recognition, he commented: “It was a surprise and a huge honour – an award that not many of us have a chance to actually receive. If you enjoy the relationships you develop with your team, its easy. I’m really flattered and deeply honoured.”

The breadth of this year’s winners demonstrates the dynamic nature of the logistics sector, with DP World achieving a remarkable double victory, securing both the Port Company of the Year and Sustainability Company of the Year awards – testament to their substantial CO2 reductions and comprehensive sustainability initiatives backed by convincing evidence.

Sector Champions Crowned

The highly competitive Modal Awards categories, determined by votes from Multimodal attendees and exhibitors, saw victories for:

Air Freight: Kuehne+Nagel

  • Road Freight: Maritime Transport
  • Rail Freight: Freightliner
  • Sea Freight: MSC
  • Port Operations: DP World
  • Third-Party Logistics: Maersk

Innovation and Excellence Take Centre Stage

Howard Tenens Logistics secured the Best Warehouse Operation of the Year award with what judges described as “a benchmark entry with full-spectrum excellence.” Their submission showcased impressive operational innovations including 6RS robots and Kallikor AI technology, delivering a 46% uplift in despatch alongside a 33% renewable energy use and 31% reduction in GHG emissions.

The Technology Company of the Year award went to CCL Logistics & Technology for their innovative approach to sustainability challenges, while the partnership between Sky and DHL Supply Chain was recognised as Shipper/Partner of the Year for their advanced Connected Control Tower managing multimodal flows and delivering 4% freight spend savings.

Diversity and Future Leaders Celebrated

Iron Mountain took the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Company of the Year award for what judges called “exceptional DEI leadership” with innovative initiatives including their SEND college partnership. Meanwhile, Haya Huang from DCG Logistics UK Limited was named Young Logistics Professional of the Year, with judges praising her “amazing progress in a relatively short period of time.”
