Will Kenyon to lead new ICC Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption programme in the UK

Will Kenyon has been appointed by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to lead the re-launched UK Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption programme. He brings his expertise as Partner in Forensic Services at PwC, where he specialises in the detection, investigation and prevention of fraud, bribery and corruption and other forms of economic crime. Kenyon’s extensive experience over 25 years has covered a wide variety of both investigative and advisory work with clients across many industries, from which he has gained insight into practical aspects of the ethical, legal and regulatory challenges faced by businesses operating around the world.

The Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption programme provides guidance and a forum for UK business to help combat corruption. In particular, the programme encourages self-regulation in confronting issues of extortion and bribery, and asks companies to approach anti-corruption not just as an activity, but as a core company policy – developing recommendations and practical tools on corporate responsibility. The new programme will also aim to provide UK businesses with the opportunity to voice its opinions on international initiatives to fight corruption.

Will Kenyon comments: “Corruption is the enemy of business growth and international trade – threatening the integrity of markets, undermining fair competition, and destroying public trust. ICC is at the forefront of the efforts to guide businesses in the fight against corruption, and, crucially, provides a global voice for the UK business community in this rapidly changing field.”

The launch of the Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption programme comes at a time when anti-corruption has been a focal point for international discussions, with the creation of the first ever ‘Global Declaration Against Corruption’ at the UK Government’s Anti-Corruption Summit in May.

“The time is ripe to raise awareness of corruption among businesses, governments and civil society,” says Chris Southworth, Director at ICC United Kingdom. “In line with our mission to promote global growth, job creation and development, our Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption programme will help UK business introduce transparent policies, ethics and management. Certainly, companies operating with integrity will attract more growth and investment.”
