Dimerco implements dual-brand strategy in Singapore with new ocean freight service operation

Taiwan-based freight forwarding company, Dimerco has implemented its dual-brand strategy in Singapore called the Diversified Freight System (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. The dedicated ocean freight service operation, which was formally opened on 18 January 2019, will provide ocean freight services in Singapore to Dimerco’s customer base.
According to CEO Mr. Edward Lin, Dimerco’s expansion in South East Asia has been driven by the market, particularly in light of the current US-China Trade war. The continued uncertainty is leading manufacturers in China to consider moving to alternative locations such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, which offer some of the best regional hubs in South East Asia. In establishing its dedicated services here, Dimerco is looking to capitalise on this situation and offer wider ocean freight and logistics capabilities to customers.
Dimerco has also unveiled a new 14,000 sq ft Bonded Warehouse with 1,200 temperature-controlled pallet space and four loading bays. It is strategically located at the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore, which is part of the Free Trade Zone with easy access to the airport, seaport and cross-border trucking. The new warehouse facilitates trans-shipments on the same or on multi-modal transportation as well as LCL freight consolidation.
Commenting on the new developments in Singapore, Dimerco CEO Mr. Edward Lin said: “It is almost 40 years since we commenced operations in Singapore and our business in the region has continued to grow strongly. We are pleased to announce the opening of Diversified Freight System (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and bring online a new bonded warehouse facility.”
Mr Edward Lin goes on to say that: “Dimerco now has 38 offices across South East Asia, with the newly enhanced service located close to the border for road freight from and to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and way up into China. We foresee a rising trade flow between ASEAN countries and China, and already provide cross-border road freight services covering major hubs across the region, in addition to air and ocean freight services, which we are now looking to expand.”
