Among the showcased innovations will be the new light weight LRC unit co-developed together with Alstom and SNCF Voyageurs in France. The unit features R-454C, an A2L class, low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant to ensure high levels of performance and safety while helping rail operators meet their sustainability goals and stay ahead of future regulation.

“For decades, Thermo King has been a trusted expert and a committed partner to leading railcars manufacturers and operators, offering world-class rail HVAC solutions. Around the globe our solutions across tramways, double-decker, light rail, metro and high-speed rail applications reduce energy consumption and costs, while increasing passenger comfort and minimizing the carbon footprint,” said Claudio Zanframundo, Vice President and General Manager Thermo King Marine, Rail and Air. “Today we are coming to InnoTrans to demonstrate our expertise and solutions that combine high performance, reliability and passenger comfort but with an improved environmental performance.”

The unit can deliver high ambient performance, offering cooling in temperatures up to 52°C, and has been extensively tested in accordance to the railcar manufacturer’s and railway operator’s standards.

“Collaboration is key to providing HVAC solutions that meet our customers’ needs.
