Europa Road invests in over 250 new Krone trailers

Europa Road Belgium, based in Oostende has invested in over 250 new high spec Krone trailers worth 7.4m euros.

This expansion sees 256 Krone Euroline trailers joining Europa Road’s fleet, bringing the total fleet to 400, increasing its capabilities for full and part load from Belgium into the UK. The trailers, which are being delivered in stages, will allow Europa to provide an improved service to its customers.

Europa Road Belgium rebranded in September 2022, moving from its original name Continental Cargo Carriers. The operator also announced new services, demonstrating its ambition to be the operator of choice between Belgium and the UK.

Europa Road has now transitioned from an established unaccompanied cargo carrier of full and part loads to one that specialises in a broader depth of services, optimising the transport of full, part and groupage loads to and from the UK.

Carlo Turner, Non-network & Continent Director, commented: “We are very pleased to take delivery of the new Krone trailers. As part of the expansion of the full and part load unaccompanied business, we have increased our trailer fleet to support the growth in European port haulage.

“As well as investing in stock to expand our logistics capabilities, we have also bolstered our workforce last year to support Europa’s growth objectives.  These investments and advances in the business will not only benefit our customers but the team too.”

The Krone trailers also feature the standard Multi-Lock securing system, with two ton strapping points every 10cm along each side rave. As well as a retractable roof and XL Certified Curtains, with a load capacity of 26.5 tonnes.

Hans Philips Managing Partner at Krone Benelux added: “We are delighted to be supporting Europa Road in the next stage of expansion and pleased that they have chosen to partner with Krone – one of the leading global trailer manufacturers.”

This news comes as the company has recently reported a positive market response, with customers specifically interested in its DDP product which provides pre-Brexit delivery times.  Europa’s parent company developed the innovative DDP product 12 months before the end of the transition period. It invested 5.8m euros in the development and delivery of the DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) product, which manages customs formalities without the need to engage the buyer, so goods are not delayed by additional paperwork, and customers not faced with unexpected additional fees.

Europa’s DDP system means import clearance information is entered into the consignment, prior to goods arriving, so that as soon as goods are unloaded, they are submitted for import.

The popularity of this seamless, stress-free service mitigates Brexit issues of increased costs, paperwork and border delays.

Already an established player in the un-accompanied trailer market, Europa Road already makes 20,000 North Sea crossings per year and has access to 400 trailers and is the third largest trailer operator from Zeebrugge. It has its own trailer network for part loads and full-loads to from Benelux and groupage distribution in Belgium as well as an inhouse customs agency.

A growing team of 47 staff, based locally in both Belgium and the UK Europa Road is expanding locally in Oostende with the introduction of market managers in strategically important hub locations.

Europa Worldwide Group has three divisions – Road, Air & Sea, and Warehouse – and an ever-expanding global footprint. This year internationally the Group has expanded into the Middle East and Asia, with new sites in Shanghai and Dubai.
