FTA celebrates reaching 18,000 members

FTA is celebrating a major milestone after signing Thomas Ridley & Son Ltd as its 18,000th member to confirm its position as the largest and most influential business organisation representing the UK logistics industry.

Working with a range of diverse businesses from major retailers to smaller courier companies, FTA is delighted to celebrate its most recent addition. David Wells, CEO of FTA commented: “We are so thrilled to have Thomas Ridley & Son Ltd join us as our latest member and look forward to building a long-lasting working relationship with them.

“The entire logistics sector is currently facing some of its toughest challenges yet with issues such as Brexit, skills shortages and environmental pressure. It has always been the view of the FTA that UK PLC needs an organisation that can speak with one strong voice to the government and media. By signing our 18,000th member, we are cementing our reputation as the leading organisation representing multi-modal logistics that can do just that.”

As well as championing members’ best interests regarding new transport policies and key issues, FTA also provides businesses with the tools to keep their operations safe, efficient and compliant. FTA’s Jon Noble, Member Relations Manager, visited Thomas Ridley & Son Ltd, a food service provider based in Bury St Edmunds, to mark the occasion. Paul Farrow, Distribution Manager at Thomas Ridley & Son Ltd, commented: “We are thrilled to be joining FTA as their 18,000th member and to be a part of such a huge milestone in FTA history.

“We feel its vast experience across its 130-year history will prove invaluable in ensuring we are compliant with regulations and providing the best possible service to our customers. With so much uncertainty currently in the logistics sector, we are looking forward to having the opportunity to be consulted, provide feedback and be represented within government.”
