SkyPeople Training, a specialist in aviation training, is setting its sights on further international expansion with the opening of a new base in Dublin. This development follows approval from the Irish Aviation Authority, allowing the company’s new subsidiary, SkyPeople Training (EU), to deliver the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) cabin crew attestation course. This attestation is a mandatory qualification for cabin crew members across Europe and is recognised by all European airlines and operators.
With its headquarters in Manchester and as part of the EDM Group, SkyPeople Training already holds accreditation from the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as a cabin crew training organisation and security training provider. The launch of its Dublin-based operation allows the company to cater to both UK and European markets, addressing the demand for qualified cabin crew across international airlines that register aircraft in either the UK or EU, especially after Brexit led to the UK’s CAA certification no longer being accepted within the EU.
SkyPeople Training (EU) is actively recruiting staff for its new Dublin facility and will offer the EASA certification to both airline clients and individuals seeking the qualification for personal career advancement. The 11-day course combines classroom and practical training, covering critical areas such as aviation regulations, emergency protocols, security, first aid, fire and smoke management, dangerous goods handling, survival, communication, and crew resource management.
Sarah Ferguson, SkyPeople Training’s Chief Executive, noted the strategic advantages of the Dublin location, highlighting established partnerships with operators like Ryanair and Aer Lingus on the UK side and Dublin’s proximity to Manchester. She expressed appreciation for the Irish Aviation Authority’s support throughout the certification process, describing the new base as a “landmark development” that will propel the company’s growth in the European market.
For the aviation industry, SkyPeople Training’s expansion means increased availability of qualified cabin crew—a critical need as airlines navigate post-Brexit certification challenges. Ferguson emphasised SkyPeople’s agility in developing learner-centric courses and delivering them to industry-leading standards, strengthening the company’s commitment to support airlines globally.
SkyPeople Training operates from a purpose-built facility at EDM’s headquarters in Newton Heath, Manchester, where it provides comprehensive training for both new learners and current crew members. The academy’s hands-on sessions focus on emergency scenarios such as fire and smoke-filled cabins, ensuring that crew members are fully equipped to manage in-flight crises. Alongside cabin crew training, the company offers support for operators, including training manual development and course design, delivering custom training solutions worldwide.
EDM, the parent company, runs a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility where it produces training simulators for sectors such as civil aviation, defence, and rail, further solidifying its position in the global training and simulation industry.
